The Australian distribution of Mictis profana (F.) (Hemiptera: Coreidae) and its life cycle on Mimosa pigra L.

Abstract: Adults of Mictis profana feeding on Mimosa pigra (Mimosaceae) live for 3.5 months and the life cycle is completed in 38 d. M. profana occurs throughout mainland Australia, but is absent from Tasmania. Its hosts include native and introduced plants. Its distribution is concurrent with the current and potential range of Mimosa pigra. Potential biocontrol of M. pigra by M. profana is discussed.
